Hello!  Thanks for your question.  BCPL certainly has a wide collection of Baltimore and Maryland-based history books and research materials.  You can also request materials through our InterLibrary Loan services..  Please ask your local library about this service, as it does incur varying fees.

Here is a link to our holdings for Maryland history:  http://catalog.bcpl.lib.md.us/polaris/search/searchresults.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.6&type=Browse&term=Maryland%20--%20History&by=SU&sort=RELEVANCE&limit=TOM=*&query=MSH='119754'&page=0

The book series "Images of America" has some nice pieces on Baltimore-area and Maryland-area history.  Their books in our collection are here:  http://catalog.bcpl.lib.md.us/polaris/search/searchresults.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.6&type=Browse&term=Images%20of%20America&by=SE&sort=RELEVANCE&limit=TOM=*&query=MSE='15816'&page=0

The Baltimore area also hosts several archives, museums, special collections, and historical societies that provide access to their materials either by loan or online.  I highly recommend visiting the Maryland Historical Society site and library for Baltimore-specific books and research materials here: http://www.mdhs.org/library/library-overview

If you find you'd like to delve further into Maryland/Baltimore research, I recommend getting in touch with the Maryland Room at the Baltimore City Enoch Pratt Public Library.  Check out their site here:  http://www.prattlibrary.org/locations/maryland/

BCPL does have an online historic photo collection on our site you can view here: http://catalog.bcpl.lib.md.us/polaris/search/searchresults.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.6&type=Keyword&term=*&by=KW&sort=RELEVANCE&limit=TOM=dmc&query=&page=0
