Zinio is a commercial website which offers free digital magazines to Baltimore County Public Library customers as well as at a cost to non-library customers.  You should not see a cost for digital magazines if you have entered the website through the library's Read Digital Magazines link on our Digital Library page.

It is possible to access Zinio directly through their corporate home page or to accidentally click out of the free library content on the website.  On these occasions, the screen will prompt you for payment in order to checkout an issue.  Just re-enter the library's Zinio website by clicking on the Zinio button above and you should be able to log in and to browse/checkout magazines without any cost.

Getting prompted to pay for Zinio titles occurs most often when one of the Zinio apps is used to try and check out magazine titles. Remembering that the Zinio reader app cannot be used to check out magazines will help you avoid this. To check out free magazine titles from your library's Zinio collection, you must first use a web browser, navigate to the library's Zinio website and check out titles from there.  Then you may open the Zinio reader app and the magazine title should be there waiting for you to read.

Please note: not all magazines in Zinio are made available for free to library customers. You may always use your Zinio account, which you set up through the library, to purchase magazines which are not offered for free through the library.
