Both password and library card (barcode) number are used to safeguard your privacy.

A password is needed to log into your BCPL
library account (https://catalog.bcpl.lib.md.us/polaris/logon.aspx) as well as to use some of our other services, like our online research databases. Unless you changed it, your password is the last four digits of the phone number the library has listed in your account.

To enter your library account, from any BCPL web page, click on the Account tab (http://catalog.bcpl.lib.md.us/polaris/logon.aspx ) then click the Log In Now button.

For information about checking and using your library account, see http://bcpl.libanswers.com/faq/74850

Forgot your password?

Click on the Account tab then click the "Log In Now" button.

If you have your library card number (barcode) or the username (http://bcpl.libanswers.com/faq/74880) you created for yourself and have an email address on record with us, click on the Forgot your password? link. A temporary PIN number will be sent to the e-mail address(es) we have on file.

Otherwise you will need to phone (press 3 for Library Accounts) or visit your
nearest branch (http://www.bcpl.info/hours-locations/#neighborhood) for assistance.

Changing your password

You may change your password by logging into your library account. Enter your library card number (barcode) without spaces, your password (the default is the last four digits of your phone number) and click the Log In button. If you cannot log into your account, call any BCPL branch and ask for assistance with resetting your password.

  1. Once logged into your account, click on the Change Logon button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Now click on the box before Change Password.
  3. Type in your old password (or temporary PIN) and then your new password.
  4. Enter your new password again in the Verification box, then select the Save button.
