Q. How do I find The Great Courses videos?

BCPL has both Hoopla and Kanopy streaming video services which both have The Great Courses. You will need your library card number and library PIN/password to access them. Directions to find them are below. 

Kanopy

Go to BCPL’s Kanopy website and create a Kanopy account (email and password) by selecting the 'Add a Library Card' button. Or click 'Log In' then select 'Don’t have an account yet? Get started'. Kanopy passwords must be at least 6 characters long and can contain any combination of numbers, letters and/or special characters. The next time you log into Kanopy you should only need to enter your email address and Kanopy password.

Mobile app - after you create your Kanopy account, if you want to use Kanopy on a mobile device, search your app store for 'Kanopy', install the mobile app and log in using the same library card number and PIN/password. You must create the account on BCPL's Kanopy website first before installing the app.

To find The Great Courses or other educational and instructional videos: 

If using the Kanopy website, after you log in, select the Browse button and a menu will drop down. Select 'Instructional' and The Great Courses should appear. Or use the search tool (icon that looks like a magnifying glass) and enter 'The Great Courses' or enter any keyword or subject of interest. If using the mobile app, use the Browse icon (found along the bottom of the screen in the app) to see a list of Subjects or use the Search icon to enter subjects or terms such as 'Great Courses'. 

Hoopla

Go to the Hoopla website and select the "Get started' button to create a Hoopla account. You will be prompted to enter your email address and create a Hoopla password. Hoopla passwords must be between 8 and 40 characters long and can contain any combination of numbers, letters and/or special characters. Next you should be prompted to enter your library card number and library PIN. Then enter your Maryland zip code and select BCPL from the list of libraries. The next time you log into Hoopla you should only need to enter your email address and Hoopla password.

Mobile app - once you have created a Hoopla account, you can install the Hoopla app and log in with the same credentials. Hoopla is available for: AppStore (Apple iOS devices) | Google Play (Android devices) | Amazon (Fire devices) | Apple TV |  Android TV | Fire TV | Roku | Chromecast | Windows or Mac via a web browser.

To find The Great Courses or other educational and instructional videos: 

Using the Hoopla website or app, enter "The Great Courses" in the search field. Or in the app, tap the "More" button, then tap The Great Courses. 

The next time you want to access Hoopla or Kanopy, you can find a link to both by going to BCPL’s home page (www.bcpl.info), select the Books and More tab then select the Digital Library link from the drop-down menu. Hoopla and Kanopy are in the Movies and TV tile/section.
