When you suspend a Libby hold, it pauses your eligibility for that title and passes available copies to users behind you on the wait list. Once you remove the suspension, you resume eligibility for an available copy of the title. While the hold is suspended, your position may change relative to the movement of other customer's holds.

For example, let's say a title has four holds on it. In order of date placed, the wait list might look like this:

User A (chose to suspend)
User B (chose to suspend)
User C (chose to suspend)
User D (active)

For user D in that scenario, they'll see that they're first in line. This is because hold positions exclude suspended holds. If user A unsuspends their hold, the wait list doesn't shuffle. Instead, it'll look like this:

User A (active)
User B (chose to suspend)
User C (chose to suspend)
User D (active)

User will see they are 1st in line and User D will see they're second in line. User D will be able to borrow the title after its loan period with user A expires (as long as the holds from users B and C remain suspended). If User B unsuspends their hold then User D will then see they've moved back to number 3 on the wait list.

The bottom line is, it's complicated and has a lot of moving parts.
