Hi,

Thanks for your question. We have reported the trouble to the NYT but don't have an ETA for resolution.

In the meantime, I found a way around this which may work for you. Try the steps below.

  • From the Baltimore County Public Library's (BCPL's) home page at (www.bcpl.info).
  • Select the Books and More tab and a menu will drop down.
  • Select Digital Library or Research Databases.
  • Scroll down the list and select the New York Times (NYT) link. Or you can use this link to get to BCPL's NYT page.
  • You should land on a BCPL page that says, "Enjoy Free Access to NYTimes.com".
  • Select 'Access from outside the library'.
  • You should be redirected to NYT page that has the "Redeem" your code button and it says "Your code has already been redeemed".
  • Click on the New York Times masthead (in the upper left side of the screen, as shown below).

  •
  • You should land on the NYT home page, then select the Login button (upper right side of screen, as shown below).

  •
  • Enter your email and password on the NYT login screen.
  • Now you will see the subscribe/paywall screen.
  • Scroll way down past the "Continue to checkout" and "PayPal" buttons.
  • Select the "Continue without subscribing" link.
  • I  got one more "subscribe" paywall, clicked the NYT masthead again and then I was able to read several articles.
  • After that, I was also able to read on the NYT mobile app on my phone without any paywalls appearing.

If that does not work, try using a different, up-to-date web browser or clear the cache on your Chrome browser. Then repeat the steps above.

I am sorry for the inconvenience and will let you know as soon as this is fixed.
